It is grown only in Peru over 2500 years ago used in the preparation of chicha morada and mush. Phenols compounds of purple corn are powerful antioxidants that protect cell membranes and DNA from the damaging effects of free radicals. Also, anthocyanins are powerful antioxidants that reduce body aging, reduce the risk of heart attack and are excellent preventive against cancer.
